Feels Personal Protection Act won't make it

To the editor:

I must respond to Senator Twyla Ringís article, and excuse, for voting against the Personal Protection Act on 4/11/01. The Minnesota House overwhelmingly passed the Personal Protection Act by a vote of 85-45.

The Personal Protection Act will never make it out of committee as long as Senator Roger Moe and company are in control. In an effort to bypass the committee, Senator Pat Pariseau made a motion to withdraw the bill from the committee and to bring it to the full Senate floor for a vote. If that motion would have passed, the Personal Protection Act would have passed, because when voted on by the full Senate floor, your Senator and many others who say they support it would have been forced to vote for it in an effort to show their constituents they meant what they told you.

Senator Ring who consistently votes with Senator Moe, then voted against the motion knowing that it would be a dead issue at that point, because it wonít make it out of committee. Then Senator Ring writes you an article to tell you that, ìshe supports the right to carry and feels we have plenty of laws currently on the books.î It is obvious she knew where this bill would go.

I feel it is quite unfortunate that some of our elected officials do not believe in the Constitution, and that they do not believe that you or I have the right to protect our family and loved ones from the criminals that do not have registered guns, or permits to carry, and never will.

I have the pertinent votes for the House and Senate, regarding this issue, in my possession if there are any questions.
