Benefit hymn festival for Palestinian Christians set for April 29 at Trinity Lutheran in Lindstrom
Trinity Lutheran Church, Lindstrom, invites the communitytojoin in support of Palestinian Christians by attending a benefit hymn festival - Favorite Hymns of thePresidents - at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 29 at Newell and Elm in Lindstrom.
These have been trying times for all Palestinians. Over 535 donors and 65 churches and institutions have joined in bringing a bit of beauty into the lives of these beleaguered people.
For over 20 years, thepipe organ at Christmas Lutheran Church in Bethlehem was silent. Christmas Lutheranís sister congregation, Christ the Redeemer in Minneapolis, spearheaded a restoration project with Northfield organ builder Rollie Rutz who built Trinityís new organ.
The decrepit instrument was shipped to Minnesota for repair and shipped back to Bethlehem in time for Christmas Eve services last December.
Shortly before the service electric power was interrupted, but hte quick-thinking pastor, Mitri Raheb, pulled the battery from his car toprovide the necessary current.
Rollie Rutz held a flashlight so guest organist Karen Ullestad from Des Moines could read the music.
The Trinity Choir directed by David Groettum will lead the congregationin favorite hymns beloved by all and especially our past presidents including Jimmy Carterís ìBlest Be theTie That Binds,î Grover Clevelandís ìBlessed Assurance,î Theodore Rooseveltís ìHow Fir a Foundation;î and Herbert Hooverís ìBattle Hymn of the Republic.î
Carol Peterson, Joanne Endres and Michael Savold will accompany.
The projectís chair, Charles Lutz, will give a brief presentation and be available for discussion following the service.
