Hamann resigns from North Branch School Board
It was with genuine regret ñ both apparent and stated ñ that the members of the North Branch School Board approved the resignation of their colleague Chris Hamann during talks Thursday night, Aug. 9.
Hamann has decided to forego the remaining two years of his school board term as he continues to pursue his own higher education, explained North Branch Superintendent Dr. Robert Stepaniak.
Between his professional endeavors, his family and the pursuit of a degree, Stepaniak said, Hamann decided he simply did not have enough time to devote the attention necessary to the school districtís affairs.
It was obvious Hamann would be missed at the board room table and beyond.
The board will operate in its normal capacity with its five remaining members until November elections.
In November, elections will be held for three open seats for full, four-year terms ñ and a fourth, two-year term will also be up for grabs to replace Hamann.
Whoever is elected to fill the two-year seat would be sworn in at the boardís November meeting, while those filling the four-year seats would be seated officially in January.
The board elected not to use its option to appoint someone to fill Hamannís seat on an interim basis through November.
