In praise of Rep. Rob Eastlund
To the editor:
Last fall the voters of District 18A sent Rob Eastlund to serve in the Minnesota House of Representatives. I am writing to congratulate him on a very successful first year and to thank you for sending him to St. Paul.
This was not an easy session. There were many late nights, long hours of negotiation and a couple weeks of overtime at the end. But thanks to the determination and hard work of representatives like Rob Eastlund, Minnesota families and taxpayers came out the big winners this year.
Historic property tax relief, long term care reform and tough, new laws to keep chronic drunk drivers off the road were a few of the accomplishments made possible by Robís work.
As you may know, Rob Eastlund came to the Capitol with more than a decade of experience as an educator and school board member in the Cambridge-Isanti schools. In just one year, he has become an invaluable member of the Education Policy Committee.
This year he successfully authored legislation to make it easier for families to save for college through the Minnesota College Savings Plan.
Minnesotaís families, taxpayers and schools have a friend at the Capitol in Rep. Rob Eastlund. Hopefully, he will be making a difference for years to come.
Steve Sviggum
Speaker of the House
