Oberstar ëtalks shopí with North Branch city officials

Congressman James Oberstar was in North Branch Monday morning, Feb. 12 where he discussed a new district office to be placed in the city, and future improvements of the I-35 bridge in the city.

North Branch City Administrator John Moosey said Oberstar briefed city officials on these area activities and offered his assistance as needed.

Oberstarís search for a district office in the city is ongoing, Moosey indicated, while interviews for a lone office staffer were to be conducted Monday afternoon.

Moosey said a site for the office has not yet been determined, and that the new office search and project ìis still in the works.î
Moosey said Oberstar offered to work closely with MnDOT officials to look into funding options for the I-35 bridge on the west side of the city.

The congressman hopes to promote the city of North Branchís stature as a competitive market for business and industry, Moosey said, as well as continue to provide jobs in the local economy.
