Calling all kids and parents - enjoy health fun at Wyoming Health Fair Mar. 17
Moms, dads and kids are invited to attend a Childrenís Health Fair at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 17.
ìWe wanted to highlight health services for children while having fun in the process,î says Anne Duxbury, R.N., who is coordinating the action-packed event. ìMany of our physicians and clinic staff will be on hand on March 17 to talk to parents and children and answer their questions. If you are new to the community or a long-time resident with children we encourage you to attend. Several other community agencies that work with kids have also been invited to take part.î
The health fair is appropriate for kids of all ages. In addition to childrenís health screenings there will more than 30 fun and informative tables and activities. Activities will include live entertainment, a visit by Minnesota Twins mascot ìT.C.,î and a chance to sign up for door prizes including: doctor and nurse teddy bears, a Harry Potter paperback book, a $50 gift certificate from Target, a free membership in the Twins Knothole Club and a set of rollerblading/skateboarding pads from Forest Lake Skate and Cycle.
Children can also get a free fingerprint photo ID card, and $7 bike helmets will be offered in a wide variety of colors and sizes for children and adults.

ï Create a healthy snack (and eat it).
ï Fun with the Food Pyramid
ï Hand-washing challenge
ï Make-your-own first aid kits.
ï Ambulance tours
ï Reading pledge/Free books
ï Skateboard and razor scooter safety booth
ï First aid and home safety for kids
ï Meet the doctors
ï Face painting
ï Kidsí Health Screenings:
- How big am I? Height and weight
- Blood pressure
- Depth perception (for crossed and lazy eyes)
- Color perception
- Asthma screening/lung capacity/peak flow
- A look in the ear
Greta Grosch of the Silly Sisters will perform in an act known as ìTata and Friendsî at 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. in the Fairview Lakes conference center. Before you leave, frost a lucky shamrock cookie and sign up for door prizes.
