Abby Nordaune of North Branch will participate in People to People program

Chisago Lakes Baptist School 8th-grader Abby Nordaune has been accepted to participate as a member of the People to People Student Ambassador Program going to Europe this summer.

This 21-day educational program consists of meetings with government officials, interaction with other students her same age, educational activities and staying with a host family.

Nordaune will be leaving in mid-June and will be visiting England, France, Italy and Greece.
People to People was initiated by President Dwight Eisenhower in 1956. He believed that if people from different cultures could come together in peace and friendship, so eventually would countries.

To be accepted for this program, students are interviewed and evaluated. If accepted, they are expected to share their experiences with schools and civic clubs when they return.

The People to People Student Ambassador Program is not associated with school.

As a Student Ambassador, Nordaune can also earn high school and college credits because of the many educational elements of this program.
ìPersonally, I look forward to being a Student Ambassador because I believe in promoting cultural understanding and world peace,î Nordaune said.
Abby is the daughter of Dale and Kathleen Nordaune. They live in North Branch.
