She feels sting was more of an entrapment

To the editor:

In regard to your front page story (Feb. 14, 2001) about RCM (Rush City Municipal liquor store) selling booze to minors. I am the person who sold the bottle of Booneís Farm wine to the supposed minors. They sure looked over 21 to me. Even on our video tape they looked older. It was not a 20-year-old girl who bought it, it was a male who had a woman with him who looked well over 30. She was thick with make-up.

Our papers we got from Chisago County stated that the decoys would not be made up to look older nor would they be allowed to try to buy during rush hour. Both of those rules were broken. I believe the officer who did this sting used entrapment tactics. If 17 different places served these two individuals then you have to know that they did in fact look of legal age.

I have worked at RCM for almost five years. I have never had this type of problem before, because I do card those who donít appear to be of age, always.
I am very upset and angry about this matter. It makes me look bad and it makes our municipal look bad. I do not sell liquor to minors and neither do any of the other people who work there.

If the Sheriffís office is going to continue these sting operations, then they should comply with the rules and regulations - just as we do. Be fair, donít cheat. I donít feel itís fair and I believe this matter should be dropped, not only for our sake, but for all the 17 businesses involved who were fooled by the Sheriffís office.

So people, be prepared to get your IDs checked. If I donít know you - you better have your ID when you come to the Muni!
