Sustainable Communities web site is now online

The Minnesota Office of Environmental Assistance (OEA) launches a new interactive web site called NextStep. The site is designed to promote access to resources and to facilitate information exchange on the topic of sustainable communities. NextStep is designed for the nearly 2,000 members of the Minnesota Sustainable Communities Net-work, as well as for all others interested in sustainability. The site contains hundreds of searchable entries on resources related to sustainability.

NextStep provides the ability to search for and post sustainability-related resources, calendar events and jobs. It also involves 12 volunteer ìtopic guidesî who help to support the site on web pages devoted to the following topics: agriculture, buildings, business, communities, ecosystems, education, energy, individual choices, land use, statewide/global, transportation and water.

The NextStep site is designed to be a community effort. While it is sponsored by the OEA with strong assistance by the volunteer topic guides, it is hoped that others interested in sustainability will contribute to the site and to make it a useful, living source of resources, events, job listings, discussions and more, as related to sustainability.
NextStep can be accessed at http://www.nextstep.state.mn.us. For more information abut NextStep or the Minnesota Sustainable Communities network, contact Philipp Muessig at the OEA at 651-215-0204 or 800-657-3843
