Another grand year for NB Salvation Army
To the editor:
It was another grand year for the North Branch Salvation Army bell ringing campaign. Or should I say a three grand year. The bell ringing was another success in our town. It sure does my heart good to see so many of you willing to help raise money for those in need.
Iíve heard on the radio and TV that the belling ringing efforts havenít been going well this year, but I need to let you know that the city of North Branch did better than many of those other cities.
So, thank you to all of you that came out in the bitterly cold weather and wished others a Merry Christmas while ringing the Salvation Army bells.
I also want to take the time to publicly thank the churches that gathered the volunteers: St. Gregoryís Catholic Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Maranatha and North Branch UMC.
Thanks also to the businesses that let us ring bells at their establishments: Perkins, Burger King and Nelsonís Market, and the businesses that let us put table top kettles on their counters: Bumper to Bumper, Petersonís Mill and Farm Store, Nelsonís Market, Conoco/Kath Oil and Holiday.
All of the funds raised in North Branch, as well as those raised in Chisago City and Lindstrom, will stay in an account earmarked for use by those residents in Chisago County that are experiencing a crisis in their lives. Some of the other things that the Salvation Army has done in our community lately is provide meals for those in need during the holiday season and collect mittens and coats for a winter clothing drive.
Once again, thanks to all of you. We couldnít do it without you.
Jeanne Bradshaw
North Branch Salvation Army Representative
