Midsummer Kiddie Parade winners announced
The North Branch VFW Auxiliary to Post #6424 is again very thankful for the parents or others who spent time to prepare for and bring the children to the Kiddie Parade.
Probably due to the uncertainty of the weather, we had a much smaller turnout.
The patriotic theme was cleverly carried out by most of the entries.
An individual interested in the VFW donated flags so that we were able to present each child with one.
Two of the North Branch reigning royalty, Miss Congeniality Nicole Peterson and Princess Jessica Dereschuk, carried out the difficult task of judging the entrants.
The winners were as follows:
Costumes (singles)-
1- Sophie Crowell ìMiss U.S.A.î
2- Will Young ìBat Manî
3- Joclyn Young ìDorothyî
Costume (groups)-
1- Alice and Zakry Humble ìDorothy and Lionî from Wizard of Oz
2- Danielle, Kelley and Mackenzie Inderlee ìThe Old Glory Girlsî
No third place.
Wagons and strollers -trikes (singles)-
1- Brent Arnt ìSailor on Shipî
No second of third.
Wagons and strollers -trikes (groups)-
1- Palmgren Trio
No second or third.
Special (singles)-
1- Clay McCarthy ìFarmer with Tractorî
No second or third.
Special (group)-
1- Ariel and Emma Eglekraut and Tonner Barsness ìScootersî
No second or third.
The parade led off with an escort by North Branch Police Officer Wayne Schwalbe and the scouts of Packs 141 and 411, Troops 180 and 141 and Girl Scout Troop 1113 carrying the colors.
Following the colors in a bright red convertible was the 2001 Kiddie royalty Queen Nicole Morgan and King Andrew Lawrence.
It was another exciting time for the children who attended and the rain held off until it was all over.
