Fountain is new appointment to Stacy PC
The Stacy City Council appointed Jason Fountain to the planning commission last Tuesday night and adopted a county policy on alcohol compliance enforcement in the city.
Fountain was appointed to the planning commission to replace Chris Johnson who resigned from the post roughly two months ago. Dan Good was appointed the cityís new Parks and Recreation Director.
The council adopted the alcohol compliance code to establish policy and procedure for establishments which may fail law enforcement alcohol compliance checks.
The municipal liquor store as well as the Rustic Inn in Stacy were both fined $200 for recent compliance failures. The monies are dedicated to ongoing alcohol awareness training for employees of various establishments which furnish alcohol.
An offer from former clerk Connie Donahue to act as a consultant to the city at a rate of $20 per hour was turned down by the council on a 4-1 vote, with Mayor Kathi Lawrence in favor of the agreement.
Funds for such a contract were not budgeted and were considered too expensive by the council.
Consideration of a new pornography ordinance in the city were tabled Tuesday night and will likely be discussed at the councilís next meeting. Joint Powers fire protection and considerations involving a new fire station and property will also be discussed at that time.
The Joint Powers Board is set to meet May 23 at the Stacy Fire Hall.
The council also will continue to look at options for reducing phosphorous output associated with the cityís wastewater treatment plant
