New movie theater coming to Hinckley this fall
Grand Cinema Hinckley owners, Brian and Shari Weidendorf of Mora presided over the groundbreaking ceremony May 7. Scheduled for completion this fall, the state-of-the-art, four-screen cinema will offer four choices of first-run movies with matinee and evening show times. It will be located in Hinckley on Weber Ave. south of Tobieís restaurant.
Besides being the only movie theater in Pine County, Grand Cinema Hinckley will be the first movie theater in Hinckley in 44 years.
The theater is on the leading edge of 21st century theater designs. Each auditorium will feature the latest in digital sound techniques and have curved screens for a more robust viewing experience.
The theater design combines a rustic timber character with high tech. The outside will be of a split-face concrete block in earth tones with a dark green chalet-style roof over the lobby.
The open entrance area with the large timber beams will give a unique northern lodge look.
Inside the lobby you will see a series of exposed timber trusses, a wood ceiling and decor.
Building Construction, Inc of Middleton, WI, the projectís general contactor, is well known for doing buildings for Cabellaís and they have also built theaters in several other states.
