Rush City students excel in state FLA competition
Rush City students participated in the state FLA meeting and competition April 26-28 at the Radisson South Hotel.
They were among nearly 3,000 FLAers from all over Minnesota. The meeting included many guest speakers. The Rush City students found the event to be an overall success.
The Rush City girls participated in the STAR reports (Students Taking Action for Recognition).
The results are as follows: Rush City Chapter President Sarah Kay (sophomore) received a gold rating for her presentation, ìTeen Pregnancy: When Children Have Children.î Erin Hestbeck (senior) and Sarah Kay received a gold rating for their presentation, ìTeen Runaways: Broken Hearts and Bad Attitudes.î
Alison Kay (grade 8) and Vanessa Robinson (grade 8) received a gold rating for their presentation, ìAnorexia and Bulimia: Are Teens Dying to be Thin?î
Ashley Schafer (grade 8) received a gold rating for her presentation ìDiabetes: Can You Keep Control?î
These girls won yet another trophy for RCHS and the first state FLA trophy in over 10 years.
The dance team, consisting of Heather Steltz, Ashley Schafer, Laura Cort, Diana Woodruff and Vanessa Robinson (all in grade 8) performed at the state meeting to ìDancing Queen.î
Sophomore Mary Heine was a voting delegate for the FLA state officer election.
