This letter writer asks ëWhoís kidding whoí
To the editor:
Apparently the City Council doesnít care about the overcrowding of the schools. With the exception of councilwoman Amy Oehlers, the rest of the ìblind miceî voted yes to yet another development.
Also, according to our city planner Alan Cottingham, the school was informed of this new development prior to the vote and there was no comment. They must realize that year round schooling is now inevitable. We canít pay for all this explosion of growth as it costs more than it brings in.
You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all the time.î Council members remember those words.
The councils of North Branch, Stacy and Harris should be in constant communication with regard to the growth impact especially on the schools. I know this is asking too much of our council, but I would think common sense would dictate this.
When going back through newspaper ads and articles run by the candidates, prior to the election, I found inconsistencies in their performances.
John Pace Jr. - ìAs for residential growth, I believe we do need to take a step back and develop a new plan for controlling growth.î
Rod Lofquist - (ad) . . .seeking ways to effectively manage the rapid growth in our community. Rapid growth is the top issue.
What has he done except to vote for more?
John Pinsonneault (mayor) - ìWe also need to slow the growth out of respect to all citizens. People are not always willing to change or change quickly, and we need to be sensitive to these citizens. In the same breath, there are citizens who are eager to see growth and new opportunities. What this means is a balancing act, and not an easy one, but it can be done with prudent planning, open minds, resourcefulness and a genuine love for our community.î
Goals:controlled,planned growth.
Sorry fellas, you failed the test.
Remember at election time what the Council and Mayor promised - hold them accountable. My best advice, looking at their voting record, is ìthe best man for the job is a woman.î

North Branch Citizens
for a Better City
P.S. My hat is off to the one Council member who stood up for her convictions. The burden of our schools and roads is real and not a figment of our imagination as the rest of the council would have us believe.
