Roger Else new NB mayorBy Barbara Brown Council member Roger Else was named mayor of North Branch during a very brief special meeting Monday, April 15. Else, who has served 12 years on the council, will take over mayoral duties immediately. Former Mayor John Pinsonneault resigned his seat after a job transfer forced him to move to a community near Brainerd. Elseís seat as council member now is open for appointment. Anyone interested has until May 7 to apply for the position. Eight people applied for the mayor post. Else, Don White, Theresa Furman, Robert Walz, Ash Scharffbillig, William Rice, Lawrence Erickson and Dennis Erickson (no relation) all applied. Scharffbilligís application was discounted because the address given on the letter and resume did not fall within the city limits, said city administrator John Moosey. Elseís term as mayor extends until November when the seat will be up for election. The council seat Else vacated also will be up for election in November because the person chosen to fill that post will fulfill the remainder of Elseís term. ©ECM Post Review |
