Lillian M. Dahlstrom
Lillian Marie Dahlstrom, a long time Rush City resident, age 86, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at Fairview Lakes Medical Center in Wyoming, Minn. following a brief illness. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 13 at First Lutheran Church in Rush City, with Rev. Laurie OíShea and Pastor Lee Reinsch officiating. A few of her favorite songs were sung by sololist Jan Goebel who was accompanied by Diane Kirchberg on the organ. Honorary pallbearers were her six grandchildren. Interment was at the First Lutheran Church cemetery in Rush City Minn. Lillian Marie Dahlstrom was born July 8, 1915 to Jorgen and Marie (Michelsen) Rasmussen in Richfield , Minn. At an early age she moved with her family to Pine County and attended Pine Grove School after which she moved to Minneapolis and did housekeeping for families. On January 18, 1938 she was married to Walfred Bror Dahlstrom in Rush City. To this union three children were born, Merle, Duane and LaDez. For many years she worked as a nurses aid at the Rush City Hospital. She also enjoyed being a foster grandparent at the Cambridge State Hospital during her early retirement years. She had been active in the Easter Star and the Fireman's Auxiliary. An avid card player, Lillian was also a humorous story teller, a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She resided at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City for the last two years, and enjoyed it there tremendously. It was ìher homeî. She was preceded in death by her husband Walfred, her parents, and one brother, Ted Rasmussen. Survivors include her two sons Merle and Phyllis Dahlstrom of Crookston, Minn., Duane and Brenda Dahlstrom of Andover, Minn. and one daughter, LaDez and Glenn Mell of Rush City. Six grandchildren also survive: Shelly and Paul Bilotta, Michael and Betsy Dahlstrom, Erin and Gary Luke, John and Lori Dahlstrom, all of the Twin Cities area, Anita and Ken Lind, Craig and Amy Mell, all of Rush City. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren, her two sisters Sylvia (Clark) Raudabaugh of Rock Creek, and Marge (Ron) Carlson of Sauk Centre, Minn., and one brother Bob Rasmussen of Rock Creek, one brother-in-law Cliff (Hazel) Dahlstrom of Rush City, and one sister-in-law Carrie Mattson of Oregon. Arrangements were made by Olson Funeral Chapel of Rush City. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and knew her.
