Anna Louise PetersenAnna Louise Petersen of Rush City, MN was born on October 18, 1919 to Christopher and Anna (Flor) Wiggen in Red Wing, MN. She passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2002 at Lakeside Nursing Home in Pine City, MN at the age of 82 years, 5 months and 3 days. When Anna was four years old her mother died. She then along with her younger siblings was raised by her Aunt Lottie. Anna Louise was preceded in death by her parents, aunt, Lottie Wiggen, brother, Christopher Wiggen, sister, Margaret (Gordon) Johnson and son Ernest Howard Petersen. Survived by her husband E. Howard (Dick), daughter, Margaret (Jeff) Accola of Bruce, WI; son, Chuck (Trudy) Petersen of Rush City, MN; and daughter-in-law Karen Petersen of Minnetonka, MN, 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 7 nieces and nephews. A graduate of Red Wing High School, Anna Louise received her teaching certificate from Red Wing teachers training and then taught country school for two years. She then attended St. Cloud State Teachers College and after graduating taught elementary school in Braham, MN. On July 22, 1944 she married E. Howard (Dick) Petersen in Red Wing, MN. Married for 57 years, Anna Louise was a farm wife and homemaker raising their three children. She was a sunday school and vacation bible schoolteacher for many years and after her children were grown she became a Laubach tutor. She has made many lifelong friends. She was a 45-year member of the Jasper Chapter #28 Order of the Eastern Star in which she was Worthy Matron for two years. She belonged to the West Rock Ladies Aid and the Friendly Neighborhood Club as well as other community organizations. Her amazing memory for special dates such as birthdays and anniversaries will always be remembered. The warmth, love and life lessons of Anna Louise will be with us always. Memorial Services for Louise were held Monday March 25th 2002 at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City with the Jasper Chapter # 28 Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Doris Swanson provided the organ music and a time of fellowship and lunch followed at the Jasper Masonic Lodge. A spring interment is planned in the West Rock Cemetery at Rock Creek, Minnesota. ©ECM Post Review |
