Joyce L. Peterson

Joyce L. Peterson, age 74 of Rush City died on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002 at the Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge after a courageous battle with a stroke and cancer.
Funeral service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Rush City, Minn. with the Reverend Steve Tischer officiating. Casket bearers were Warren Swanson, Vince Greer, Mike Peterson, Jim Peterson, Roy Erickson, and Scott Friday. Interment was at St. Johnís Lutheran Cometary on East Rush Lake. Arrangements were by the Olson Chapel, Funeral & Cremation Service, Rush City, Minn.
Joyce was born in the Rush Point area on Aug. 6, 1928 to Iver and Florence Gustafson. She attended school in Rush Point and in Rush City. On
Aug. 15, 1948 she was united in marriage to Alden Peterson. They lived in Rush City.
Joyce was an active member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Rush City where she had many friends and enjoyed worshiping her Lord.
In her earlier years, Joyce was a waitress and also worked as a clerk at a store and gas station. Joyce later worked as a cook in the Rush City School District.
Joyce enjoyed being very active and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed being a volunteer at the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Rush City. She always wore a smile, no matter what the circumstances.
Joyce is survived by her son Gary (Gerrie) of Minneapolis, MN and son Arlen (Karen) of Harris, MN. She was also proud of her granddaughters Carrie (Brian) Moffet of Stanchfield, Minn. and Heather Peterson (and special friend, Aaron Stenquist) of Lakewood Colorado. Joyce was also proud of her great grandson William Moffet. Joyce also leaves behind many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Harriet Peterson of Cambridge, Minn., Dale Erickson of Blaine, Minn., Vernie and Ruth Peterson of Fridley, Minn., Dale Erickson of Blaine, Minn., Harlean Peterson of Cambridge, Minn., Bill Peterson of Harris, Minn. and Vern and Dorene Riediger of Blaine, MN, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews and her cousins, Violet Nystrom of Minneapolis, Minn. and Harriet (Victor) Sorola of Lamesa, Texas. Joyce also had a lot of friends who will miss her dearly, including her Grandview family.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, son, Wayne, her husband, Alden, and her mother-in-law and father-in-law.
