Luella M. Studt

Luella Marie Studt died Aug. 21, 2002 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City, Minn. having reached the age of 78 years.
Funeral service was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Olson Funeral Chapel in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie OíShea officiating. Music was provided by Lueís godson, Jon Lueth, and his wife, Marilyn. Casket bearers were David Barn, Daniel Barn, Robert Vander Velden, Andy Vander Velden, Keith Smith, Marcus Geisenhof, and Seth Erickson. Interment wa at St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery on East Rush Lake near Rush City.
Luella, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Smith) Johnson, was born March 31, 1924 at Rush City, Minn. Lue, as she was known to her family and friends, grew up with her older brother, Ray, and her younger sister, Mary. She attended school in Rush City and graduated from Rush City High School in 1942.
As a young girl, Lue earned extra money by helping to clean homes in Rush City. Upon completion of her formal education, she moved to Minneapolis, Minn. where she worked for a few years.
Lue often returned to Rush City on weekends, and it was during this time that she met William Studt. They were married Jan. 6, 1946 at the First Lutheran Church in Rush City. In 1996 they enjoyed celebrating their golden wedding anniversary with their family and friends.
Lue and William made their first home on the Studt family farm located northwest of Rush City near Greeley, Minn. Lue enjoyed being a housewife and all the things that went along with making a house a home. She was a member of the local card club and enjoyed attending the monthly parties with her neighbors.
Lue and William enjoyed going to dances and celebrating birthdays and holidays with their family and friends.
In 1970, Lue and William moved off the farm and into Rush City. While living there she helped care for Williamís father until the time of his death.
In later years, Lue and William enjoyed traveling. Some of the places they visited were Hawaii, Mexico, and the
West coast. Her grandchildren were very special to Lue, and she always enjoyed having them visit her.
Declining health during the past few years caused Lue and William to become residents of the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Rush City.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Barn of Rush City; grandchildren: David (Walleen) Barn, Diane (Keith) Smith, Denise (Seth) Erickson, and Daniel Barn; great-grandchildren: Marcus Geisenhof, Robert (Helen) Vander Velden, Heide Vander Velden, and Andy Vander Velden; great-great-grandchildren: Zac and Corbin Vander Velden; nephews: Dr. Phillip (Lola) Johnson, and Craig (Peggy) Johnson; sister-in-law: Millie Johnson, Brookings, SD; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Johnson, sister, Mary, and brother, Ray.
