William J. Schultz Sr.
William J. Schultz Sr., 59, of Makinen died Saturday, August 17, 2002 at St. Maryís Medical Center in Duluth following a lengthy illness. William was born April 24, 1943 in Pontiac, Michigan to Martin and Virginia (Butrum) Schultz. He lived in Stacy, Minn. where he was a member of the Stacy volunteer fire department. He worked as a custodian for the Trevilla Nursing Home in New Brighton, Minn. for more than 12 years and also at the Stacy Bar. Following his retirement, he moved to the Iron Range in 1995 to enjoy his retirement hunting and fishing. He married Dianna Merrill on October 2, 1982. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Dianna; Son, William J. Schultz, Jr. of Markham; Daughters, Julie (Chris) Picker of Brainerd and Terri Schultz stationed with the US Navy in Whidbey Island, Wash.; four grandchildren; brothers, Tom (Joyce) Schultz of Pine City, Minn. and Jimmy Schultz of Waterford, Mich.; his mother Virginia of Waterford, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Martin, brothers, Alvin and Dinky, nephew, Ernie, and his grandparents. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Markís Lutheran Church in Palo. Rev. Brian Birk will officiate. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church. Cremation will follow the service with burial at a later date. Arrangements by Ziemer-Moeglein-Shatava Funeral Home of Aurora.
