A citizen alert on new powerline
To the editor: On Nov. 29, 2002, NSP filed a letter of intent to build the Chisago Lakes Powerline Project through the county, a high-voltage electric transmission line requiring the condemnation of citizensí properties for wider rights of way. NSP is not being required to direct-mail notice landowners threatened by condemnation. Now is the only opportunity citizens will have to comment or take legal action to protect their land, health and property values before the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission. If you live on or near the proposed Chisago Lakes Powerline Project (CLPP) you must get on the NSP-PUC service list by calling the office of James Alders, NSP at (612) 330-6732 requesting inclusion on the list and providing your name and mailing address. The new CLPP begins at the Chisago substation in northwest Lent Township, one quarter mile south of the North Branch city limits. For more information on the new CLPP call me at the Chisago Citizens Defense League at (651) 257-6747. Mark Oberg Lindstrom
