Plat changes approved, commission appointments made in North Branch
By Barbara Brown The North Branch Council Monday night approved two changes to phasing for two developments being built in North Branch. The developers of Casselberry Ponds asked the council to allow them to include three additional lots into the sixth sectionís Phase 1 and remove them from Phase 2 of the section. The lots were switched because the developer could access them for constructon this year and not wait until next spring. Julie Dresel, the cityís engineer, told the council that the amount of rain over the summer prevented the developer from paving two access streets that could have speeded up development in Phase 2. However, the roads that reach the three moved lots are in place and the builders could get to them without trouble. In the second change, the developer of Wood Duck ponds asked that three lots from its Phase 1 plat be removed and included in the Phase 2 part of the development. Because of a Northern Natural Gas line that runs through the property, the developer could not get access roads paved until the spring and therefore asked that the three building permits for the lots be held until spring. Also at the meeting, the council approved 65 delinquent utility bills be attached to the customers tax bills for a total of $17,268.53. Four commission appointments were made during the Monday night meeting. Larry Erickson was appointed to the cityís planning commission to fill a seat up for appointment formerly held by Bill Rice. The post is a three-year term. Don White also had applied for the appointment. Charles Heinzel was re-appointed to the park commission for a three-year term. Attorney Dan DeWan was re-appointed for his seat on the Economic Development Authority. Les Zetner also had applied for the six-year post. The three-year term up for appointment on the Water and Light Commission will once again be filled by Rick Hals. Don White also had applied for that seat.
