North Branch gymnasts fall to Centennial by 22 points

North Branch gymnasts faced tough competition at the Dec. 3 match-up against Centennial.
Sister coaches Cheryl Becker from North Branch and Coach Gothier faced off with Gothierís team coming out on top.
Becker said the Vikings are comfortable in the Centennial gym because the team often practices there using the spring floor, but that comfort may not have been strong enough because the team lost 122.4 to 100.05 to Centennial.
ěThe first meet is always a challenge to prepare for,î Becker said, ěand you never really feel ready, but the girls did well and had a great time.î
Becker said she was most impressed by the teamís maturation from last year to this year and she was glad to see the teamís relaxed air and positive attitude shining through their performances.
Several middle-schoolers competed on the varsity squad and made good showings. Kelsey Lloyd, Aileen Shanley and Allyssa Houle all were highlighted for their hard work.
Houle had a fourth place finish on varsity bars and placed fourth all-around.
Lloyed was fourth on vault, fifth on bars, fifth on beam and third all around. Shanley was first in junior varsity vault and showed in varsity beam, bars and floor exercise.
Senior Nick Chouinard finished with a fifth place in the all-around category.
Upcoming for the Vikings tumblers is a meet Thursday at Fridley starting at 6:30 p.m.
