Two present at taxation hearing
By Barbara Brown Two people were present at the Stacy truth-in-taxation hearing Monday night, but no concerns about city spending were aired. One man who runs senior housing in Wyoming and Stacy said he had no concerns about how Stacy was running the city, but he wanted to air his opinion about the countyís tax increases. He said the tax on one of his buildings was increased 60 percent and a second buildingís tax was increased 40 percent. Stacy officials ended up raising the cityís levy by four percent over the 2002 levy. The 2003 levy proposed for approval on Dec. 18 is $125,488, just a few thousand over the 2002 levy of $120,191. Small changes were included in the cityís $302,771 budget for 2003. Two changes were a slight increase in the number of hours the city would pay for a sheriffís deputyís presence and a part-time assistant for the cityís clerk. The cityís new mayor, Mike Carlson, and two re-elected council members, Lee Schultz and John Walz, were sworn in Tuesday night.
