We need thrift store in N. Branch

To the editor:
In response to Jackieís (letter) questioning where Neighbors Helping Neighbors has gone. I too volunteered and was a regular shopper of the Family Pathways (Neighbors Helping Neighbors) in North Branch. We definitely need a store in North Branch. However, that has been taken away from the trusting people in our community.
The local churches joined together to build and put in place a used clothing store to benefit people in our community.
Family Pathways took on the responsibility of Neighbors Helping Neighbors with the understanding that it would not be closed. However, the board of directors of Family Pathways did not keep their word. It is my understanding that the board of directors listened to Steve Martin and closed the doors of our North Branch store.
They then turned around and opened a store in Isanti with the fixtures that the local churches had worked so hard to accumulate over the years.
The peoplesí sweat and tears went into Neighbors Helping Neighbors to make it what it was and in a moment it was taken away under false pretenses.
The store was opened in our community so that we could help people in need and now that is gone because of one man. I thought that Family Pathways was here to care about the people but maybe that is not the case at all.
There are people who canít afford to shop in a regular store and they canít afford to drive the distance to get to a different location, so now they are left out in the cold because someone made a poor decision.
The doors of the North Branch Thrift store shouldnít ever have been closed. Shame on everyone who had a hand in making the decision to close this store. The bottom line is that we need a store in North Branch to make our community a better place.
