Miller earns All-Conference honors, Lloyd takes honorable mention

By Danielle Strenke

The North Branch gymnastics squad ended a successful season Friday, with a fourth place finish in the Rum River Conference meet at Chisago Lakes.

The team garnered 119.975 points, despite the absence of three key varsity gymnasts. Head coach Cheryl Becker was pleased with how well the team performed. ìOur enthusiastic alternates were ready to step in and help the team out for a fourth place finish,î she said.

Not surprisingly, Chisago Lakes captured first in the conference, followed closely by Sauk Rapids. Rush City was third, and Princeton finished below North Branch in fifth.

Individually, senior Andrea Miller performed well, earning All Conference awards on the vault, beam and bars, despite an injury early in the meet on bars. ìThis was a good meet for Andrea,î Becker said.

It was also a good meet for freshman Whitney Lloyd , who received All Conference honorable mention on bars and floor. ìShe has been strong all year and had a solid performance to accrue an all-around score of 31.775,î Becker said.

The meet ends the teamís regular season. Next up, they will compete at the Section 7 meet Saturday, Feb. 16 at Mahtomedi.
