Gymnasts take second at RC InviteThe North Branch gymnastics team finished up its regular season schedule with a second place finish at a triangular meet against Rush City and Quad Cities Saturday. The Vikings finished with 125.3 points, just shy of Rush Cityís 125.95, for second place. Quad Cities finished with 120.0. Leading the way for the Vikes was Whitney Lloyd, who tallied 32.2 points for third place in the all-around. This included first on vault (8.7), and third on floor (7.9) and beam (8.4). Andrea Miller took second on beam with an 8.7, and first on bars with an 8.2. Nick Chouinard took second on floor with an 8.1. The entire varsity squad performed well on vault, capturing four top spots. Led by Lloyd in first, Lindsey Larson took second (8.6), and Kristina Gendreau and Andrea Miller tied for fourth (8.3). Chouinard also scored high, with an 8.1. Gendreau also placed fourth on bars, with a 7.4, on her way to a fifth place showing in the all-around. The North Branch junior varsity squad finished with 95.65, for third place in the meet. The team now prepares for the Rum River Conference meet Friday, 6 p.m., at Chisago Lakes Middle School. Qualifiers will advance to sectionals Feb. 16 at Mahtomedi. ©ECM Post Review |
