Entrepreneur resurrects former trailside tavernBy Barbara Brown The Palmdale was known for its tasty hamburgers and other foods and Zuercher said he hopes customers will come to enjoy the food he serves just as much. The theme of the trailside eatery will remain the same as the Palmdale, highlighting bar service, quick food and sports on the televisions, but Zuercher plans to renovate the rear area of the restaurant to accommodate a more family-friendly atmosphere. Renovations have improved the Palmdaleís interior appearance. A freshly polished bar is reflected in the newly installed mirrors behind the bar. Glass shelves hold bottles of liquors from whiskey to Malibu rum. New neon lights are expected any day now. Zuercherís family is in the restaurant business in North St. Paul and he brings to Palmdale two years bartending experience from his work in Stillwater. ìI really like the restaurant business,î Zuercher said. ìWhen I saw this I thought Iíd give it a shot.î His niece and nephew, also experienced in the restaurant business, are working as bartender and cook and a few friends are helping until the restaurant takes off, Zuercher said. The Well will open at 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Wednesdays will be half-priced burger nights. The Wellís grand opening celebration is tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. Zuercher said he will give away a $50 bar tab each night, T-shirts and beer merchandise. ©ECM Post Review |
