Rush City girls continue fight for winning recordTurnovers seem to be hurting the Rush City girls basketball team. High numbers of turnovers were racked up in the past two games for the team, Jan. 8 against East Central and Jan. 11 against Isle. The Lady Tigers lost both of those match-ups. The East Central home court match-up went into the loss column for the Tigers, who fell 37-18. The team gave up the ball 25 times in that game, compared to 19 by East Central. In the game at Isle, the girls team lost 48-38 and had 22 turnovers. Isle turned over the ball 20 times. Rush City also lagged slightly on defensive rebounds during the East Central game, pulling down 19 to East Centralís 21. Rush City did slightly better in the steal category with 10 to East Centralís nine. Isle grabbed more steals in that game with 11 to Rush Cityís 7. Brooke Larson led the team in points scored in the East Central game, bringing in five. Two of those shots were two-pointers and Larson sank a free throw. Mindy Scott had the most steals, with three, and scored four points. In the Isle game, Maria Kuhlman scored 11 to lead the team. Scott again made a nice show with nine points, landing three two-pointers and three of eight free throws. The team faced Barnum Jan. 15 and will meet Aitkin on the Tiger court Friday night. Next week, the team travels to Hinckley-Finlayson on Jan. 22 and returns home to face Onamia Jan. 25. ©ECM Post Review |
