They lived in the twin cities area for several years and in October of 1969 they purchased and made their home in Rush City. There he farmed and worked out of the home for several years. Ron worked for Aurelius Mfg. in Braham for over twenty years and he was looking forward to his retirement on opening fishing, May 2002. He loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and camping at ìthe lakeî with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved reading especially Louis LíAmour westerns; a good joke, bird watching and anyone who could give him a good argument, even though you knew youíd never win. Our dad recently discovered his talent for singing Karaoke and entertained his family by even singing a Bruce Springstein song at his granddaughterís wedding reception and had a wonderful time. Ron is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mavis; stepmother, Evelyn Smith of Superior, Wisc.; eight children: Rhonda Swanson and Travis of Pine City, Minn., Renee Smith and Brad of Ham Lake, Minn., Rechele Smith and Dan of St. Francis, Minn., Renita and Orrin Bendickson of Rush City, Danny and Joni Smith of Harris, Minn., Roxanne Smith and Dave of Pine City, Dean and Lisa Smith of Hinckley, Minn., Dale and Jody Smith of Harris; two brothers: Weldon and Jan Smith of Texas, Alan and Betty Smith of Mora; one sister, Lavonn Jensen of Texas, 26 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him. ©ECM Post Review |
