Rush City gymnasts take second in tri-meet

The Rush City gymnastics team took second in a tri-meet against Becker and Eden Valley last week.

Rush City scored 120.7, while Becker took first with 125.2 and Eden Valley wrapped it up with 100.8.

Head coach Dianne Meier said the team was late arriving at the meet because they had never been to Becker before and the bus driver took a long route.

ìWe missed warm up rotations and stretches,î Meier said.
Regardless of missing warm-ups, the team still made a good showing.

Samantha Rothbauer was second in vault with 8.4 and Laura Erickson tied for fifth with Aimee Fox at 8.1.

Rothbauer also took third in uneven parallel bars with 7.5 and Courtney Haavisto was fourth with 7.4.

Fox was second on beam with 8.6 and Rothbauer took fourth with 7.2.

In floor exercises, Fox was fifth at 8.2.

All-around places were secured by Fox, who took second with 32.1, and Rothbauer who came in fourth in the tight competition with 31.2.

Junior varsity won their part of the competition with 107.1 to Beckerís 99.6 and Eden Valleyís 77.7.

Kayla Witte was first on vault with 7.7 and Bethany Hagman and Gabby Calander tied for second with 7.6.

Lindsey Klar was first on uneven parallel bars with 6.1 and Danielle Lutz was second at 6.0. Witte took third on bars with 5.6 and Becky Osterdyk was fourth at 5.6.

In JV beam, Megan Antrobus was first at 6.8, Calander was second at 6.6 and Osterdyk was fourth with 6.0.

For JV floor exercises, Antrobus was first with 7.5, Jolene Holt was second at 7.3 and Hagman was third with 7.0.
JV floor scores beat the schoolís previous record by two points, raising it to 28.2.
