Boys basketball wins against Onamia

The Rush City boys basketball team pulled out a win against Onamia Jan. 18 in an overtime game that ended 64-58.

The Tigers trailed 17-4 in the first quarter, but made an impressive comeback in the second scoring 17 to Onamiaís 11.

After halftime the Tigers continued to dominate the court, outscoring Onamia 17-14 in the third quarter and 14-10 in the fourth quarter.

With the score tied at 52 apiece, the overtime rule went into effect, forcing the Tigers to gather the last of their energy.
It paid off with the Tigers pulling down 12 points to Onamiaís six.

Scoring for the Tigers was led by Brett Dreissig and Joe Prettner.

Dreissig scored 14 points in the first half and Prettner took over in the second half, bringing in 15.

Dreissig then got turned back on and scored six in overtime. Prettner added to the overtime score by four.

Prettner also bagged the only field goal for the team.

The Tigers were hot on free throws, going 15 for 19 in regulation play and 4-4 in overtime.

Dan Turner, who returned to play after taking a break because of a knee injury, shot 71 percent, making five of seven two-point attempts and one free throw.
