Wrestlers fall to Hinckley-Finlayson in dual meet

The Tiger wrestling squad faced Hinckley-Finlayson in a dual match at home on Jan.17.

The team had faced the Jaguars in tournament competition just a few weeks before then when they met at the Hinckley Tournament.

The team placed fourth in that tournament and had faced Hinckley earlier in the season when the Jaguars fell to the Tigers 37-27.

ìThey came to wrestle,î said head coach Kevin Jensen. ìWe didnít.î

The Tigers fell to Hinckley-Finlayson 54-7 in last weekís dual.

Ray Grabau faced Pat Straydel in the final match of the night.

Although the team was severely behind by that point, the 145 match showed the Jaguars that the Tiger wrestlers would not give up without a fight.

Grabau scored 12 in the match, and earning four points toward the team score.

After quickly taking down his opponent, Grabau nearly pinned Straybel two separate times in the first period.
Straybel was saved by the buzzer, however, when Grabauís second attempt at the pin was cut short.

Adam Morris also won his match for the Tigers against Charlie Hagman in the 125 class.

Morris dominated that match and finished with a 7-2 score.
Tim Allerton made a good effort to hang in through his 112 match against Dustin Nelson, earning 10 to Nelsonís 15.

The team wrestling in a quad-meet at Meadow Creek where they faces Brooklyn Center, Meadow Creek and Lester Prairie.

The Tigers beat Lester Prairie 39-34, but lost to both Brooklyn Center and Meadow Creek.

In the Lester Prairie match, Richard Marohn (103) and Allerton both won major decisions in their classes.

Adam Best (125) pinned his opponent in 1:37; Sam Umbreit (145) pinned in 5:07; and Tim Morris (152) pinned in 1:57.
