Rush City boys pull down ëniceí winBy Barbara Brown The Rush City boys basketball team needed to beat Ogilvie, if for no other reason than to give themselves a boost of confidence. Going into the winter break, head coach Gary Dreissig was disappointed with the way the team had been playing. The team returned to the court after the week-long break and must have been refreshed during their time off. Coming off a 62-18 romping from Braham, Rush City headed out on the road to take on Ogilvie. While the Tigers didnít exactly clobber their opponents, Dreissig was more upbeat. The 57-46 win takes the Tigers record to 2-6. ìIt was a nice effort considering the disaster we had in our previous game against Braham,î Dreissig said. Dreissig said he was glad to see players from the bench pull through when they were called up. Five players got into foul trouble and benchers were called in to help. Dan Turner and Tim Karnick both fouled out and Ricky Carlson and Brett Dreissig had four fouls each. Kellin Sybrant got four fouls and Kyle Mold came in with three for the game. Joe Prettner, who normally has a lot of court time was benched for some of the game because he was sick. Brett Dreissig secured 20 points for the team, making eight of 14 two-point attempts and sinking all four free throws he earned. He also snatched 11 rebounds. Karnick scored nine, the next highest, for the team. He landed three of four two-point attempts and three of four free throw tries. He took down five rebounds. The team next game is Friday at home against East Central. Another home game is scheduled for Jan. 14 against Concordia Academy. ©ECM Post Review |
