Rush City girls hoops bouncing back after rough mid-season losses

The Rush City High School girls basketball team may be bouncing back from a three game losing streak after they added two more to the win column.

In the Dec. 20 away game against Frederic, the team racked up 53 points to cover Fredericís 31.

Mindy Scott sacked 15 points for the team. She made three of six two pointers, a field goal and six of nine free throws.
Scott also held her own on rebounds, picking up four on offense and six at defense.

Senior Jess Prettner pulled down 11 for the team against Frederic.

Prettner landed five of nine two pointers, made one of two free throw attempts and secured four defensive rebounds.
Frederic turned over the ball 25 times in that game to Rush City.

In the second win, Jan. 3 against Grantsburg, the Rush City team took their winning attitude on the road again.
Grantsburg fell to the Lady Tigers 40-38.

Rush Cityís players landed 60 percent of the free throws they earned.

The team attempted 20 free throws in that match-up.

Prettner once again shined during the Grantsburg game.

She pulled off 15 points for the team.

Prettner snagged six of 12 two-point shots, three of four free throws and pulled down 10 rebounds.

She also aided the team with five steals.

Maria Kuhlman made a nice showing at the Grantsburg game also.

Kuhlman sank all four free throws and landed three two-point shots.

She grabbed six rebounds, had four assists and tried for two field goals.

Coming up for Rush City is a conference match-up at Isle on Jan. 11, followed by two home games, against Barnum on Jan. 15 and a conference game against Aitkin on Jan. 18.
