Selma M. Twingstrom
Selma Marion Twingstrom, 86, of the Fish Lake area passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2002 at the Green Acres Country Care Center in North Branch. Funeral services were held at 11 am, Friday, Jan. 4, from Fish Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Walter Leitze officiating. Jon Ekstrom, accompanied by Crystal Peterson, provided the special music. Pallbearers were Mylo, Monty, Greg, Scott, Jame and Tom Twingstrom. Interment was in the Fish Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge. Selma was born May 1, 1915 in Anoka County, the oldest of nine children to Nels and Ida (Carlson) Erickson. She grew up and attended school in the Bethel area. On Oct. 5, 1934 she was united in marriage to Oliver Twing-strom. They made their home on the Twingstrom family farm. Selma was a hard worker, farming alongside Oliver caring for the animals. She also worked at local restaurants, the powder plant in Isanti, and retired from the Cambridge Regional Center in 1979. Selma was a longtime member of Fish Lake Lutheran Church. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, music and old tyme dancing, and had a deep love for cats. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oliver, brothers Elmer, Maurice, Gordon and Wesley Erickson. Selma is survived by sons Maynard Twingstrom of North Branch, Myron and wife Janet Twingstrom of Rush City, Marlin Twingstrom of Isanti, Harley and wife Candy Twingstrom of Harris, seven grandchildren: Scott and wife Renita Twingstrom, Jame Twingstrom, Tom and wife Terri Twingstrom, Mylo and wife Patty Twingstrom, Monty and wife Susan Twingstrom, Greg Twingstrom and Andrea Twingstrom, 14 great-grandchildren: Corey, Shaun, Megan, Morgan, Jerriann, Brian, Amanda, Lacey, Amber, Benjamin, Kevin, Zach, Shawna and Ryan, one great-great-granddaughter Khale Ann, brothers: DeWayne and wife Grace Erickson of Cape Fair, Missouri, Dale and wife Joanne Erickson of Isanti, sisters: Delores and husband LeRoy Erickson of Princeton, Dorothy Stubbs of Waite Park, sisters-in-law: Fern Hellman of Andover, Helen Erickson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bernice Stone of Cambridge, many other relatives and friends.
