Antiques taken from Almelund EmporiumOn the day after Christmas, a burglary was reported at the Almelund Emporium with a Compaq Pentium III computer and keyboard and Cannon printer/fax machine, plus three antique toy steam engines (all black in color) and nearly $3,000 worth of cars, cabooses and tracks that went with the trains all missing. In addition, cash was missing from the cash register and two jade plants valued at $100 each were taken. An oil painting was also missing off the wall and a case of 100 CDs was gone. Owner Patricia Brett informed the sheriffís department that the serial numbers were painted on the side of the steam engines and are unique to each steam engine. According to the sheriffís report, there were no signs of a forced entry, although the owner reported that the back door was found open when she and her son arrived Wednesday morning to open the store for business. She stated that she and her son were last in the store Dec. 23 and both knew that the door had been closed securely at that time. A gun and ammo was reported missing from a Wyoming Township resident on Granada Ave on Dec. 28. According to the sheriffís report, the service door to the garage had been forced open. Kitchen cabinets and many drawers in the bedrooms had been gone through. The resident reported missing a Colt Trooper Mark III 357 revolver, nickel plated with 6î barrel and a dark brown woodgrain handle. The handgun did have a trigger lock and according to the homeowner, it was in place. Ammunition for the gun was also reported missing. It had been kept in a separate drawer. Information regarding this gun theft was disseminated to surrounding counties. ©ECM Post Review |
