NB council approves fourth civil defense sirenThe North Branch City Council voted Monday night to buy a fourth civil defense siren. The siren, which is planned to be installed at the intersection of County Roads 14 and 73, will cost $11,580. The city had budgeted $12,000 for a new siren. The siren on the fire station will be moved to the new fire hall location after construction is complete. A fifth siren may be added at the intersection of 412 Street and Flink Avenue to round out the cityís alert system. The additional sirens are needed, due to the cityís residential and commercial growth, to expand the coverage area in case of an emergency in the city. Also at the meeting, the council voted to seek interest rate bids from area banks so the city can borrow money for the 400th Street, Grand Avenue and fire hall utility projects. ©ECM Post Review |
