Get ready for the county fairThe Chisago County Fair, going strong for 130 years, is one week away. The fun and excitement starts Wednesday, July 17 and runs through Sunday, July 21. In addition to the business of setting up booths and getting entries entered at the fair on Wednesday, at night you can enjoy carnival rides during Sneak-A-Peak for $1 each. 4-H and FFA judging of non-livestock entries takes place Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and open class entries are accepted 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Highlights of Thursdayís schedule includes an amateur talent contest at 7 p.m. and senior citizen and century farm awards. In the grandstand, MotoCross races start at 7 p.m. Carnival ride armbands are $10 that night. Fridayís grandstand event is a demolition derby at 7 p.m. In addition, Friday is the 4-H horse show and games, in the riding arena. On Saturday, free kids games for kids 10 and under are held in the grandstand area 10:30 a.m. and another demolition derby is at 7 p.m. At 1 p.m. Saturday, is the pedal tractor pull for kids 4 to 11. On Sunday, there is an open horse show beginning at 8:30 a.m. This year the county fair parade is being held on Sunday at 2 p.m. Later in the evening is the tractor pulls, including regular and antique tractors. Every day you can watch 4-H and open class livestock judging, 4-H demonstrations, visit the animal barns, exhibit buildings, commercial buildings and the Chisago County Historical Building full of the areaís past history. Donít forget the food, with the 4-H and other local organizations offering home-cooked meals and snacks, plus the usual carnival fare of corn dogs and cotton candy, cheese curds and caramel apples. ©ECM Post Review |
