American Legion baseball will host appreciation night ThursdaySubmitted by Doug Trampe The North Branch Legion baseball team traveled to Braham on Monday, July 1 and lost 4-3. Mike Delaney pitched well scattering six hits while walking no one. North Branch was led offensively by Jon Lewis and Jake Sykes picking up two hits each. Brandon Trampe also chipped in with a two run single. On Thursday the team headed to Princeton for a double header and lost both games to a undefeated Princeton team. In the first game Lewis Sykes and Andy Huberty each had two hits with Nic Aaland and Zach Carlbom also getting base hits. Sykes and Aaland handled the pitching duties for North Branch. Princeton came away with a 13-4 victory. In the night cap the teams were locked in a pitchers duel, tied 2-2 after six innings. Princeton then erupted for 5 runs in the seventh winning 7-2. The North Branch effort was highlighted by strong pitching from Huberty and Jake Anderson. In action this week, Pine City comes to town Tuesday and Cambridge visits the N. B. field Thursday night which also marks Legion Appreciation Night. Legion members and guests will be treated to free hot dogs and pop during the game. The team then travels to Milaca for a Friday night match-up. ©ECM Post Review |
