North Branch is not rural and thatís the way we like it
TO THE EDITOR: WeÝwant to respond to Ms. Heinzelís letter in the July 17 Post Review. She is right on! We are newcomers and did not move here because we thought this was a small rural community. We retired hereÝfor the proximity to the Twin Cities and the freeway for easy access. We have lived rural and knew this wasÝnot rural any longer and we remember when it was.Ý The first planning commission meetingÝwe attended madeÝus feel very unwelcome. But since thenÝit has been our experience that a great many of the newcomers have jumped right in and are responsible citizens involving themselves in the community, churches, volunteer services, etc. We do the same. The ìlong timersî who are active in this community have made us feel we are welcome. Contacts with elected and appointed city government officials has shown us that they have due respect for the job they are doing. They work hard for a little money and a lot of head-aches. Itís good to hold them accountable, voice our opinions on growth, and keep in touch with city government. It wouldnít hurt to hand them an accolade once in awhile. Letís all pull together and make this a city for which we all can be proud. Jackie and Warren Larson North Branch
