Train-themed Rush City family restaurant open now

By Barbara Brown

Families in Rush City and surrounding areas can take in a quiet family dinner without being bothered by cigarette smoke or alcohol.

Rriattiís restaurant is now open in the Rush City Eagleís Club.

The family restaurant has a separate entrance from the clubís bar area and the entire dining room is smoke and alcohol free.

While the dining room still is sparsely decorated, the restaurantís menu is filling out almost daily.

Currently Rriattiís offers pizzas, submarine sandwiches, salads, three pasta dishes, appetizer and Buffalo wings.

Jim Harper, who hails from Jimmyís Pizza in Braham, said Rriattiís is the pizza placeís expansion effort where it will offer a comfortable family atmosphere.

The restaurant officially opened its doors to customers last week. A grand opening celebration is planned for September 1.

Eventually, Harper said, the Rriattiís menu will expand to include fried chicken, steaks, shrimp and eventually breakfast.

The double ìrî in the restaurantís name is a nod to the railroad track that crosses in front of the Eagleís club building.

The menus for Rriattiís are themed with railroad images.

Specialty pizza lines include the Great Northern, the Rriattiís flagship line, which includes pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions and green pepper.

A Hawaiian Express is offered along with the BK&O Zephyr, which is a combination pizza topped with crisp bacon, cheddar, mozzarella, onions and ground beef.

The BK&O is satisfying and can quench a craving for salty food effectively.

Three other specialty pizzas are available including vegetable, taco and meat pizzas, but customers also can design their own favorite from a list of toppings.

Prices for pizzas depend on the type of crust the customer wants. A thin crust pizza ranges in price from $6.50 for a small cheese to $23 for an extra large six-topping vegetable pizza.

Deep dish crusts, which are crispy outside and soft and chewy inside, range from $7 to $24.25.
A filled crust pizza will cost between $8 and $27.

Side-orders include garlic toast, pizza pockets, pizza fries and wings in Italian, hot and spicy or barbecue styles.

Prices range from 99 cents for a large piece of garlic toast to $13 for 24 wings.

Donít be fooled by the inexpensive prices listed on the menu. The portions are large and even a ìpieceî of garlic toast is the size of a French bread pizza.

Cold subs include ham, turkey, salami and a combination sub.

Hot subs include Italian meatball, barbecue beef, pizza sub and barbecue pork.

The barbecue pork sub is tasty and tangy. The sauce is a good compliment to the chunks of pork that filled the sub.

Six-inch subs start at $4 each and 12-inch subs range in price from $6 to $6.50.

Salads include a house salad for $2.29 and chef and taco salads for $6 each.

Pasta dishes like spaghetti, lasagna and fettuccini alfredo are $5.99.

Pick up and delivery are available. Delivery is within eight miles in Rush City city limits and costs 50 cents per mile.

The restaurant is open Sunday through Wednesday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday 11 a.m. to midnight.

Hours could change, however, when the management decides how early to open for breakfast, Harper said.

Harper added that the restaurant is accepting applications for a limited number of workers.

Most of the staff will be transferred from the Braham location to work at Rriattiís, he said.
