Renae Cheryl Nelson

Renae Cheryl Nelson died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at Cambridge Medical Center in Cambridge, Minn. at the age of 42 years, 8 months and 13 days after a courageous cancer battle. She was sustained by her strong faith in the Lord and the active support of her church.
Funeral services for Renae were held Saturday, June 29 at the St. Johnís Lutheran Church of Rush City with the Rev. Steve Tischer officiating. Music was provided by Renaeís brother Robert Schmidt, who sang a song he had composed for Renae, pianist Sue Haley and organist Dick Scheele. Casket bearers included Brent, Chad and David Williams, Ron Nelson, Ron and Bob Schmidt with interment in St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery at Rush Lake. Arrangements by the Olson Funeral Chapel of Rush City.
Renae was born Oct. 13, 1959 in St. Paul, Minn. to Arne and Bev Schmidt. She was baptized November of 1959 at Jehovah Lutheran Church in St. Paul spending her first 12 years in Eagan, Minn. In 1971 she moved with her family to Harris, Minn. and graduated from North Branch High School in 1978. Renae attended church at St. Johnís Lutheran Church of Weber where she was confirmed in 1974.
She enjoyed ice skating, roller skating, square dancing, bike riding, horseback riding and 4H activities.
On June 16, 1979 Renae was married to Ricard Nelson at St. Johnís Lutheran Church of Weber. Renae and Ricard lived in Rush City and raised a family of three children: Lee, Eric and Jessica. She spent most of her married life raising this family and was very proud of her children; but like most parents didnít tell them often enough! Renae was also actively involved in her church (St. Johnís Lutheran of Rush City) serving on the library committee, board of Evangelism and teaching Sunday school. Renae was also involved in Girl Scout, Boy Scout and Cub Scout programs, working in daycare and at the Rush City Bakery. She loved to collect angels and commemorative tin cans.
Renae is survived by her husband Ricard, her children Lee Nelson, Eric Nelson and Jessica Nelson, all of Rush City,
parents Arne and Bev Schmidt of Harris, sister Lori (David) Williams of North Branch, brothers Ron (Lori) Schmidt of Lino Lakes, Robert (Shelley) Schmidt of Harris, mother-in-law and father-in-law Ralph and Beverly Nelson of Licking Missouri, brother-in-law Ron (Vicki) Nelson of North Branch and many nieces and nephews.
