Arrangements by the Olson Funeral Chapel of Rush City. Cora was born March 17, 1912 in Angora, Minn. to Alfred Anscomb and Gelina (Olson) Anscomb. She graduated from Virginia Roosevelt High School in June, 1932; and in November of that same year, married Hugo Lind. They immediately moved to Hugoís farm in Rush City, where their three sons, Philip Reuben, Harold Hugo, and Harvey Swen, were born. Cora and Hugo worked side-by-side tending the farm until Hugoís death in 1977. Cora loved her farm, and felt blessed to remain living there until just two days before her death. Cora was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rush City, a lifetime member and past officer of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a 50-plus year member of Eastern Star. Cora was well known for her crafts and handiwork. She consistently won honors at the Chisago County Fair for her gardening, canning and sewing projects. Her greatest delight, however, was not over ribbons won, but in seeing her family and friends enjoy the fruits of her labors. Cora sewed close to 50 baby blankets for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and children of other family members and friends. These blankets became treasured items and kidsí constant companions. Cora also loved to read and possessed a wonderful memory. She enjoyed finding uses for almost everything, and made a point of wasting nothing. But Coraís greatest gifts were her patience and love for children and all of Godís creatures. She babysat for many families in the area, and always had treats on hand for both her human and animal guests. Cora was preceded in death by her parents Alfred and Gelina Anscomb, husband Hugo, grandson Keith Lind, daughter-in-law Doris Lind, brothers John, Bill, Robert, and George Anscomb, and sister Winifred ìSueî Hage. Cora is survived by sons: Philip (Caroline) Lind of Moundsview, Harold (Yvonne) Lind of Rush City, and Harvey Lind of Houston, Texas; grandchildren: Debbie (Eddie) Kasan of St. Louis Park, Jerry (Melanie) Lind of Mounds-view, Ron (Michele) Lind of Champlin, Susan (Bruce) Johnson, Chris Lind, all of Andover, Pamela (Mike) Chatras of Richfield, Patty (Bill) Cort, Ken (Anita) Lind, Gena Lind, all of Rush City, Rhonda (Mike) Patzoldt of Pine City, Al (Mindy) Lind, Billy (Sharon) Becker, all of Texas; great-grandchildren: Alexander Lind, Jennifer and Dillon Johnson, Sam and Chad Chatras, Laura, Bobbi and Bill Cort, Ryan Lind, and Brent and Brady Becker; sisters: Althea Ojanen and Agnes (Warner) Pihlaja all of Cook, Minn.; brother Alfred ìBudî (Connie) Anscomb of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. ©ECM Post Review |
