Marion B. BackmanMarion Bernice Bachman, 93, of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at the Grandview Christian Home. Marion was born Jan. 14, 1909 at Rush Point, Minn. to John and Mary (Mattson) Danell. She grew up in Rush Point and attended the Goebel Country School. After completing school she helped on the family farm. On March 30, 1927 she was united in marriage to Edwin E. Hammargren at the Lutheran church parsonage in North Branch. The couple made their home in Fish Lake Township and worked their farm. The family moved to Rush Point on the Danell farm and later farmed in Harris and Spring Lake. Edwin passed away in November 1950. Marion began working at the Cambridge State Hospital in June 1948 and retired from there after 26 1/2 years. Later while working at the state hospital she met Ted Bachman, and the couple was married on October 31, 1958 at Spring Lake Lutheran Church. They made their home in Cambridge and later moved to Pine Village. Ted passed away in May 1985. Marion was a resident at Grandview Christian Home for the past six years. Marion enjoyed bowling, fishing and traveling. She was a member of Spring Lake Lutheran Church, was a 4-H leader, and a Grange member. Marion is survived by daughters Lois Johnson of Cambridge, Phyllis and husband Roger Falten of Florida, step-children: Marge and husband Will Kessler of Texas, Jon Bachman of Texas, Richard and wife Donna Bachman of Anoka, Minn. several grandchilden and great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 22, from Spring Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Bjorge officiating. Special music as provided by Howard Doble. Organist was Alice Sjoquist. Pallbearers were Kenneth Flaten, Dean Billodeau, Richard Hanson, Howard Hanson, Richard Danell, Reuben Johnson. Interment was in Spring Lake Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge. ©ECM Post Review |
