Paul V. CarlsonPaul Victor Carlson died at his Rush City home on Sunday, May 26, 2002, having reached the age of 69 years. Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002 at First Lutheran Church in Rush City with the Reverend Laurie OíShea officiating. Organist was Doris Swanson and soloist was Jon Ekstrom. The cross bearer was Brad Carlson. Honorary casket bearers were the members of the Rush City Lions Club and the Rush City Fire Department. Casket bearers were John Carlson, Michael Carlson, Marty Carlson, Chuck Cartford, David Gravdal, and Mark Purdy. Interment was at the First Lutheran Cemetery in Rush City. Arrangements were by the Olson Chapel, Funeral & Cremation Service, Rush City, Minn. Paul, the son of Sam and Ruth (Danielson) Carlson, was born July 17, 1932 in Chengwatana Township of Pine County, Minnesota. He grew up there, attended rural School District No. 69, and later graduated from Pine City High School in Pine City, Minn. On Sept. 26, 1959, Paul was united in marriage to the former Bernice Carlson at First Lutheran Church in Rush City, Minnesota. They made their home and raised their three sons in Rush City. Paul founded his own business, Carlson Plumbing & Heating, which he owned and operated for a period of 40 years. Always active in the affairs of his community, he was involved in several different organizations. The most notable of these were the First Lutheran Church, the Rush City Lions Club, and the Rush City Fire Department, where he served as fire chief for more than 15 years. He is survived by his wife, Bernice; sons and daughters-in-law: Steven and Julie Carlson, Bob and Karen Carlson, Kevin and Kelly Carlson, all of Rush City; grandchildren: Brad, Elaine, Amy, and Kristy; sister and brother-in-law: Helen and Robert Cartford of Shoreview, Minn.; brother: Sam Carlson and friend, Marie Tuma, of Lonsdale, Minn.; aunt: Margaret Lilja of Pine City; nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Ruth Carlson. ©ECM Post Review |
