Stacy mayorís pay requests still highBy Barbara Brown Lawrence submitted a pay request at the May 28 meeting totalling $1,998 for work she claimed between Dec. 18 and May 23. Two meetings during that time did not occur. She cited a Blandin Foundation meeting from Jan. 7 for $35 which other Blandin members said did not occur. Lawrence also claimed a meeting at Lent Town Hall from Jan. 28 which never was held. The requests for the Blandin and Lent meetings were not approved, and neither were requests for attendance at a January North Branch Chamber meeting, a discussion with someone in the media in Wyoming, a meeting she claimed with the Stacy maintenance manager nor meetings in Braham, Mora, Chisago Lakes and St. Cloud. Other requests not passed by the council from the mayor included an unspecified meeting in Wyoming, an unapproved meeting with the cityís financial advisor in Forest Lake, a trip to St. Croix Falls, a meeting at Stacy City Hall and a meeting of the county HRA in North Branch and the state department of transportation in North Branch. Lawrence also had requested payment for seven interviews during December, each billed at $30. No payment for the interviews was approved by the council. At the meeting, Lawrence said she had entered the interview requests to see how the council would react. The mayor will end up being paid about $1,700 after the council removed several entries on her request sheets. For the second half of 2001, Lawrence had requested $1,600 in pay, which eventually was lowered to about $1,030. Calls to Lawrenceís home were not answered.
