Township elections Lent adds $55,000 to fire fund for 2003
Approximately 75 people attended the Lent Township annual meeting March 12 following the annual election. In the election, Monica Dwyer was re-elected as supervisor with 113 votes and Charles L. Peterson, also with 113 votes, was returned as clerk. Going into the election, Lent Township had 1688 registered voters, five new ones registered that day. The 2003 township levy was set as follows: General Fund - $105,000 Road & Bridge Fund - $235,000 Road & Bridge Equip. Fund - $45,000 Fire Fund - $190,000 Fire Equip. Fund - $40,000 Building Fund - $25,000 Total levy - $640,000, $55,000 more than had been suggested by the town board. According to Clerk Peterson, ìthe people saw fit to add $55,000 to the fire fund.î The gopher bounty was set at $2. The township board presented a five-year road plan to the public. Presentations were given by the Forest Lake Youth Service Bureau and the Wyoming Area Library Society. Sunrise Township elections results are as follows: Shane Stepp elected as three-year supervisor, Manley Olson as three-year supervisor, Wendy Kowalke for two years as clerk and Gregory Strom was elected for a three-year term on the townshipís planning commission.
