Pearl A. HolmesPearl A. Holmes, age 86, of North Branch died March 23, 2002 at Green Acres Country Care Center in North Branch. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 26, at Strike Funeral Home ñÝIsanti Chapel with Pastor Ross Prevo officiating. Howard Doble, accompanied by Nancy Pea-body, sang ìSafe in the Arms of Jesusî and ìThe Old Rugged Cross.î Pallbearers were Dennis Donovan, Michael Holmes, Lanny Laughman, Chuck Starks, Todd Starks and Troy Starks. Interment was in Strike Cemetery in Bradford Township. Pearl Anna Holmes was born May 26, 1915 at Pipestone, Minnesota to Elmer and Millie Quam. In 1937 she was united in marriage to Levi Holmes and they made their home in Minneapolis. To this union two children were born, Bill and Sharyn. Their family lived in several places, mostly around the twin city area. In 1971 Pearl and Levi built a home in North Branch Township. Pearl became an active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Cambridge. Her deep spirituality was central to her life. Pearl also worked in the kitchen at Memorial Hospital in Cambridge for over 15 years. In 1981 she was preceded in death by her husband, Levi. Pearl continued living at her home in North Branch. She was a hard working, strong person who always kept things in working order. Pearl loved gardening, crocheting and watching birds. She also loved flowers, especially her rose bushes. Pearl will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sharyn Taylor of Fairbault; brother Ed Quam and his wife Joann of Anoka; three sisters, Flossie Bowen of North Branch, Alice Deitrich and her husband Dale of Elk River, Marie Deitrich and her husband Darrel of Anoka; by seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and by many other relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Levi in 1981, by her son, Bill in 1997 and by two brothers, Wilbert in 1986 and Allan in 1998. ©ECM Post Review |
